I was tagged in the PJO/HOO tag ages ago! I recently watched the movies (I know, I know) because my partner wanted to see them for the first time. Although they are very very loosely based on the books, they can also be kind of fun and I needed something to satisfy the itch until the show premieres and I reread the books.
Thank you so much May @ Forever and Everly for tagging me 🙂

I’ve read so many good books so far and it’s really hard to pick a favorite! But I recently read A Song of Wraiths and Ruin and loved it. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. The characters and the world made me feel like I how felt when I read An Ember in the Ashes.
Star Daughter is this book for me. I was in awe of the writing and the world the author created. I could sit and read so many other stories set in the world or exploring more of the lore. The writing is so detailed and rich I reviewed it in this post, you know if you’re curious about all my thoughts.
I read Full Disclosure back in June and fell head over heels for it. However, it’s not a book I have seen many talking about outside of my own bookish circle, you know like the wider reading audience. Maybe I joined the hype train too late? It has amazing characters and relationships. The book is also very sex positive in a way that it’s not just about the characters having sex, but discussions of it and how to do so responsibly. It deserves more love!
I reviewed this as part of a mini reviews post, here!
I wouldn’t say hate, I would say dislike and that book for me was Felix Ever After. What can I say? I was skeptical of the whole cat fishing plot since it isn’t one that I particularly like to read about. However, Felix Ever After stole my heart and the manner in which these topics were handled was well done. If you want to hear more about my thoughts here is my full review!
That book for me is Nocturna. Despite it not being based on my culture it is based on Dominican culture which reminds me of my close family friends and in turn reminds me of home. Fantasy is also my favorite genre, so to have a book like Nocturna is just so amazing. Odd to feel at home with a fantasy book huh? And now I’m going to cry because I don’t know where my copy is. Also, if anyone knows of someone who wants to sell their Fairyloot copy…
This was my first book review on this blog!
I honestly haven’t read many books that feature sibling relationships besides PJO and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. I’m gonna go with the latter. The sisters have a cute relationship.
I’m gonna go with Red Rising for this one. The book has the slowest beginning I’ve read and I felt like an hour would go by and I had only read like 5 pages. I had to really push through. I ended up liking it, but yeah. Then the same thing happened with the second book. Maybe the writing isn’t for me?
Gods of Jade and Shadow! I read it back in March because the hype was big and WITH REASON. Anyone who I know that has read it has loved it. The book is simply amazing! The characters, the quest, the setting, the writing. All of it. I took my time reading it because I just didn’t want it to end.
I feel like We Set the Dark On Fire changed me. I have so much love for the book and the writing that if I were to reread a book it would this one. I seriously could not get enough of it!! The writing and the world building is perfection.
I have a strong feeling that I’m gonna love The Fifth Season. This is a well loved book and it’s fantasy. I’m very much hyped to read it to it’s entirety. I started it once before but honestly don’t remember much of it. The concept is just so cool!
I have been very fortunate to get a lot of the books that I anticipated for this year. But there’s one that I’ve been silently yearning for and that’s Miss Meteor, it’s written by two of my favorite authors. If the ARC gods could grace me with it I would be very happy. The release date isn’t that far away, so I can wait too. Another one that I also think about constantly is Ruinsong. It was the first book I requested on Edelweiss and got denied. I didn’t know this was a typical thing on the platform. Needless to say it broke my heart.
The City of Brass, a book that I read because social media wore me down! I’m glad I gave in because, friends, it’s so good. I loved the characters so much and the world is so rich. Those 500 pages flew by honestly. I can’t wait to finish the trilogy!
For this I have to say the PJO make me chuckle so much. I appreciate how cheeky they are and some of things catch me off guard. Honestly, most Middle Grades make me laugh, they’re just a lot of fun.
My first Anna-Marie McLemore book! When The Moon Was Ours this book changed me in a similar fashion to WSTDOF. I have so much love for it because it made me realize that what I wanted to study in grad school.
I started reading The Poppy War about a year ago, if I recall correctly. I loved what I read and dropped it because the timing wasn’t right. I know I’ll love it and you know it’s the first book in the series, but I’m afraid of the things that will happen to Rin and seeing how people react how will the author break me? I’m afraid, but intrigued.
Okay, but who is hating on Reyna? Because we’re gonna have some words!
I don’t know if everyone hates it, but I know it’s one of those polarizing ones. That book is Ninth House. I know that many critiqued the pace, but I didn’t mind how slow it was. I’m also aware that because of the some strong content in the book it isn’t for everyone either.
I had never read any Dark Academia books, so I was enthralled by the setting and where the story went. If you want to know more of my thoughts on it here’s my review.
Kingdom of Ash and any related ones. By the time both series were done I had just outgrown and realized the problematic nature of these books. There are 7 books in this series and with every new release I was disappointed. They leave a sour taste in my mouth now.
Wicked Fox had one of my most favorite romances. Miyoung and Jihoon has become one of my favorite OTPs. I just love them both so much, as individual characters and together! If you want to read me gush over this book here is my review of it.
I placed a hold on the Vicious Spirits’ audiobook on Libby and I’m so excited!!!
